Monitoring health indicators to identify potential or existing health issues, diagnosing and investigating health problems and hazards, educating and empowering the public about these health issues, and mobilizing communities to identify and provide solutions to health problems are some of the major activities undertaken in the public health sector. Policy development, laws and regulations that promote safety and well-being, access to healthcare services for impoverished communities, and research and development of innovative solutions are responsibilities of the government employees working in the public health sector.
